It is true that what you do comes back to you, whether in a good or bad way. It is a law that runs through the Universe.
For example, when someone does something bad to you, you usually think, “What a jerk. Why do I have to be the one to do such a bad thing?” But the truth is that you have done the same thing to someone else, and it just comes back to you. You may have already forgotten about it.
People are often unaware of how what they do affects the other person, and in addition to that, it is easy to forget what you have done, or the other person was badly hurt even though you did not mean to do it.
What you did to someone else comes back to you over time, so when someone does something bad to you, the question is, “Oh, I didn’t realize it, but I’ve done the same kind of bad thing to someone else in the past, too. And now it’s coming back to me. I’ve done something bad to that person. I’ll be careful from now on.” The question is whether or not you can change your thoughts and actions into the realization of “reflection,” and correct and change your own thoughts and actions.
If you start blaming the other person, saying that he or she was wrong, or if you try to do the same thing to someone else because you are angry, you have not learned anything. What you did will eventually come back to you and you will suffer the same thing again.
“Treat people the way you want to be treated.” This is a common saying, but if I were to add to it, I would say, “Treat people the way you want to be treated. This is because you need to avoid making others feel bad, and also because you don’t want someone else to do the same thing to you someday.”
Also, if there are people who think that if they die, everything will be reset and everything they have done will never have happened, this is not true at all. What you have done is not so irresponsible that it will become nothing just because you die.
If one thinks, “Well, everything will be over when I die, so I can do whatever I want,” then one will have terrible regrets after death. What you have done will come back to you one day beyond this life. That is the law that runs through this world, and there is no other way but to take responsibility and accept what you have done.
