People often think, “If only I were like this, I would be happy.” If only I were richer, if only I were better looking, if only I had different parents or a different family…. When we live our lives with these “if only”, we are going down the slope of unhappiness, aren’t we?
In such cases, we generally tend to forget to be grateful for what we have. We tend to lose the feeling of “thank you” for what we have.
Of course, it is important to strive for what you don’t have and what you lack, but you should also be grateful for what you have, accept everything, and live life as it is. Rather than focusing on what you don’t have, notice what you already have and live with a sense of gratitude. I think that’s enough for people to feel happy in their lives.
It is not a matter of course that we are given the environment and circumstances we are in right now, but it is because of someone else, and if we think about it, we can only be grateful.
People who can find happiness in themselves as they are right now, I think those are the people who are truly happy.
